The Susudake Chashaku Tokujo is crafted from bamboo sourced from the frames and roof timbers of traditional Japanese houses aged between 100 and 200 years. Known as "susudake" or "smoked bamboo," its characteristic reddish-brown color comes from prolonged exposure to smoke above the irori, a traditional hearth. The Tokujō version uses carefully selected bamboo showcasing rich, vibrant tones. With the decline of these historic homes, susudake bamboo has become increasingly rare, making each handcrafted scoop a distinctive piece. Variations in color and natural patterns ensure every chashaku is uniquely individual.
