HAIYATEA
Yuzu Sencha
Yuzu Sencha
Description
Origin: Shizuoka
Cultivar: Mixed
Harvest: Spring
Know your tea:
This unshaded spring sencha has no artificial flavorings or essential oils added in, but just pure, dried yuzu peels, thus giving off a subtle and natural bittersweet, citrus fragrance to complement a dominant fresh, bright, green tea.
The farmer who makes this blend only uses organic yuzu peels from a neighboring farm, thus making this tea even more special and limited in annual yield. He refuses to use commercial yuzu, in an effort to minimize carbon footprint and to support neighboring farms.
This tea is refreshing whether you have it hot, on ice, or as a cold brew, and mixes well with fresh basil or mint as well.
Ingredients: Green tea, yuzu peels
Tasting Notes: Yuzu, lemongrass, bittersweet
Liqueur Body: Vibrant green
Preparation
We encourage you to experiment with the amount of leaves, amount and temperature of water, and infusion times to reach your preferred strength of tea, but here's a suggestion for this particular tea:
3-5 grams of tea per 120ml of water at 75-80 degrees celsius. Infuse for 30 seconds. Reinfuse up to two times.
Pro Tip: Unlike Chinese teas, Japanese teas should not be rinsed, as the first cup is the most prized one.
Storage Instructions: Green tea is best stored in the refrigerator, in a dark, dry, and airtight container.
